Goathurst Parish Council
St Edward, King and Martyr church in Goathurst is a grade I listed building and one of only a few churches dedicated to this saint. It dates from 1430 with many interesting features, including a peal of six bells which are used mainly for weddings and by visiting ringers. The bells were restored in 2021.
The Halswell tomb and memorial - The tomb of Sir Nicholas Halswell who died in 1633. On the tomb rest effigies of Sir Nicholas and his wife Lady Bridget. Their six sons kneel along the front of the tomb and their three daughters kneel at the end.
The churchyard has an 18th century, Grade II* listed monument - The Willis Monument which was restored in 2024 (click here to read more about the restoration or click here to watch a short video of the restoration created by The Local Film Company based in North Petherton.
